Add ex-Nirvana drummer and generally-very-famous person Dave Grohl to the growing list of weird music biz luddites. It's not that there's anything wrong with using "analog tape" but the idea that it's the 'only way' to record music is pretty foolish. It's big and it's expensive and, if you aren't an established act, it's difficult to access. Wasting Light is a fucking terrible album ("White Limo" aside) whether or not it was recorded by a fancypants computer, Daniel Johnston's boombox or Edison's phonograph thingie (and remember: whatever recording devices any of us non-famous people have in our garages or our bedrooms or literally any other type of space one might attempt to record music in--regardless if they have computer chips inside of them or not--well... they are not the same machines Grohl has in his). But the Foo Fighters' music being shitty has little to do with why they're culturally irrelevant. It's statements like this. The Grammy's? For real? [Source.]
